Oregon Law Launches AI Skills Micro-Credential for Legal Professionals

Recognizing that generative artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a tool used in legal practice, Oregon Law has launched a micro-credential course that helps transactional lawyers use the tools effectively while maintaining professional judgment, meeting ethical obligations, and protecting client and proprietary information.

Developed by Associate Clinical Professor Kristie Gibson, faculty director of Oregon Law’s Business Law Program, the course uses practice-focused, simulation-based exercises to demonstrate the ways in which AI can be an efficient thinking partner. Participants practice drafting contract provisions, creating transaction playbooks, preparing for negotiations, and leaving with workflows they can implement in their practice.

The asynchronous two-week course is meant to help practitioners integrate emerging technology into legal practice in an increasingly complex legal landscape.
